The Partners

Dr Nicola Thomas is a half time partner who joined the practice in 1994. She is married with 2 children in primary school. She continues to enjoy the variety that general practice offers. Special interests include psychiatry and women and children's health problems. She has recently completed a foundation course in diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections.

Dr Angela Halloway is a half time partner and her interests include pediatrics, the menopause and mental health issues. She has two children and enjoys walking, cycling and playing tennis.

Dr Sarah Lee is a full time partner with an interest in minor surgery. She undertakes cryotherapy sessions and takes the lead on access issues. She also sits on the maternity liaison group. She is leading the practice's involvement in the National Primary Care Mental Health Collaborative and has also completed the foundation course in diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections.

Dr Katherine Anthony is a part-time partner with an interest in diabetes care and paediatrics. Dr Anthony is currently working with the practice's nursing team in establishing an insulin initiation programme. She is currently leading the practice's involvement in Practice Based Commissioning. In her spare time, she enjoys running, cooking, and spending time with her young family.

Dr Julie-anne Birch is a full time partner whose clinical interests include dermatology and psychiatry. Previously a medical officer in the RAF, Dr Birch has now settled in the area with her family. Dr Birch sits on the Cleveland Local Medical Committee and is a GP Trainer.

Dr Karthikeyan Shanmugam is a full time partner who strongly believes in a holistic approach to patient care and enjoys all aspect of medicine. His clinical interests in particular include Care of the elderly, Men's Health, ENT, Paediatrics and Psychiatry. He is experienced in dealing with Tropical diseases and is interested in offering health related travel advice. Away from Medicine, Karthik loves walking on the moors and cricket.

The Primary Health Care Team

We are very fortunate to have a well-established and committed Primary Health Care Team based with us in the Surgery. Each member understands his/her own function, the contribution of other professionals and his or her common interests.
