Repeat Prescriptions

Repeat prescriptions

Patients can order repeat prescriptions in four ways:

  1. By completing the tear-off repeat request attached to your prescription and posting it in the red post box on the Reception front desk or on the wall outside the surgery.
  2. By filling in a request form and posting it in the red post box on the Reception front desk.
  3. By post, enclosing a stamped addressed envelope if you want us to post your prescription to you, or
  4. Via the website

The prescription clerk is available to answer queries from 9.00 am - 12.00 pm and 2.00 pm - 4.00 pm. In the absence of the prescription clerk please ask at reception.

Your prescription will be ready for collection after 2pm the following day at the surgery, or by arrangement, 48 hours from request from either Boots or Moss chemists. Prescriptions from the chemists should be collected after 2:00pm.

Batch prescribing

The practice is currently piloting a new prescribing initiative, wherein patients can be issued in advance with up to a year's supply of prescription scripts. This supply of scripts can be kept by the patient or handed in at a specific nominated pharmacy. Medication can then be collected once a month from the pharmacy, without the need for submitting a monthly repeat prescription request and/or seeing a doctor.

As this prescribing initiative is in it's early stages, the patients of only one of our GPs are currently being considered for this system.

Batch prescribing is strictly at GP discretion and is only suitable for certain categories of medication.

Electronic transfer of prescriptions

The practice will shortly be leading on a further new prescribing initiative, wherein prescriptions will be processed and transferred electronically, from the practice directly to the pharmacy.
