28/09/06 Important Information Concerning 2006 Flu Vaccinations

As you may be aware, we would have normally started our flu campaign by now.

Unfortunately, due to nationwide problems with manufacturing, deliveries have been delayed and as a consequence we will not be able to start immunisations until 9th October.

Please note:

Everyone who is entitled to a flu vaccine, i.e.

  • Over 65s
  • The immunocompromised, e.g. those who are having chemotherapy or who have had their spleen removed
  • Those with coronary heart disease, asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease & diabetes

will be vaccinated, however this will be done between mid October & December

  • The majority of vaccinations will be done in November
  • A third of our delivery of flu vaccinations doesn't arrive until 11th December
  • We will be targeting very high risk groups with vaccines from our initial deliveries
  • We strongly encourage everyone for whom vaccination is advised to have it.
  • We will provide further details as our supply of vaccines are received
