Medical Services
We offer a range of NHS GP services under contract with Langbaurgh Primary Care Trust (the PCT). Where we are unable to provide a specific service, patients may contact the PCT on 01287 284400 to ascertain the nearest provider. The services we provide include:
Family Planning
All doctors and nurses can offer family planning advice. Dr Halloway performs coil fitting.
Minor Surgery
The practice provides Minor Surgery services. Dr Lee undertakes a fortnightly minor surgery clinic. Both Dr Thomas and Dr Lee specialise in Cryosurgery, i.e. the controlled destruction of unwanted tissues (moles, warts, skin tags etc) by the application of extreme cold. Dr Shanmugam undertakes Ear suction and joint injections.
For appointments for these clinics, please initially consult with your own GP who will refer you to the most suitable clinic.
Vaccination and Immunisation
The nurses offer a full vaccination and immunisation service to both children and adults, including flu & pneumococcal.
Travel Clinics
Trips to far away destinations are increasingly popular and the lower costs plus faster transport make it feasible for many. With such diversity, the risk of travel to your health is increased and this makes the appointment with the nurse more complex. For example, we need to know about your travel itinerary and any significant aspects of your health in the past. These are typical questions we will be asking:
- When are you departing and how long for?
- Where are you going, including the destinations within a country?
- Are you planning on undertaking any high risk activities?
- Have you taken out travel insurance and have you informed the company if you have any medical condition?
- If female, and of child bearing age, is there any possibility you could be pregnant if we needed to give you any injections?
- Do you have any medical conditions - these can interfere with the type of malaria tablets that can be chosen if you are travelling to a country that has malaria?
We need to perform a risk assessment before deciding which vaccines are recommended and the advice that will best address your needs. For this reason, the appointment could take 20 minutes or even a little longer. We plan to give you the necessary injections within the appointment time to save you having to come back. It would help us greatly if you could download and complete this form prior to attending for your appointment at the travel clinic, remembering to bring the completed form with you.
Patients are advised that appointments for the travel clinic should be made well in advance of your date of travel.
The surgery is a registered YELLOW FEVER centre (fee payable).
Anti-coagulation (INR) & other drug monitoring
Warfarin and Near Patient Testing advice and monitoring assistance is available.
Test Results
To give the doctors time to check the results, please phone for test results between 2.00pm & 5.00pm.
Medical Examinations & Reports
The doctors carry out private (non-NHS funded) medical examinations for insurance, employment and driving purposes etc. An up to date price list of the fees charged for these services is available on request.
